Ecce Mundi Gaudium
The joy of the world that is the Nativity of our blessed Lord Jesus Christ.
Ecce Mundi Gaudium (Lo, joy of the world) is a traditional Latin hymn (conductus) that celebrates the joy of the Nativity and reflects on the hope, peace and joy of Christ's birth.
The Conductus style is a type of Medieval Latin music dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. It is characterized by a monophonic texture and a syllabic declamation of its text. It was the most popular form of Latin song in the Middle Ages. The Conductus style is distinct from the earlier Gregorian chant and later motet, as it uses a more complex and less homophonic texture, with two or more voices, and is often accompanied by an instrument.
